het stuk werd door Niclas Fogwall geschreven in 1990 – hij zegt daar zelf over:

I composed this on 22 September 1990 on a Thursday, probably when I came home after work. It was a typical early autumn day, cloudy and rainy outside. I was 23 years old and rented a furnished 2-room flat in the outskirts of Gothenburg where I lived alone. I had a rather nice view from my living room where I sat at my piano just in front of the big window. The former tenant of that flat committed suicide, and everything was left as it was, even the bed was unmade.

I had quite recently moved to Gothenburg where my girlfriend lived. Our relation quickly ended though, we were not ready, and I was then rather depressed and sighed in vain for love in my loneliness. The composing was a way to comfort my soul. I used an orchestra module Yamaha EMT10, Yamaha Clavinova CLP250 digital piano and an Alesis Microverb II unit. I remember I used quite a lot of string pads in this composition, the main instrument being my piano, with lots of reverb to bring out that moody and dreamy atmosphere I wanted.

  • Suitcase V2 Phaser as leading voice
  • Forest Flute as supporting voice
  • Close Encounters synth for special effects
  • Timpani – companion of the Close Encounters
  • String Ensemble – 11 violins

de variatie werd gemaakt in surround 5+1 – de track hierboven is gecodeerd met de Fraunhofer MP3 surround codec – die wordt surround afgespeeld zodra er een surround installatie is aangesloten op je computer
